Malaysia: An ASEAN Apparel Source with Unique Opportunties

 

As brands look for alternative sources in Asia, they often overlook Malaysia. 

 

It might not be the cheapest source in the region, however Malaysia several important advantages including key trade agreements, ASEAN membership, and good productivity.

 

In 2018, Malaysia exported about USD3.7 billion of textiles, apparel and footwear products to the world. From that amount, USD374.6 were to North America, USD347.4 million were to Europe and USD63.9million were to Latin America.
